Vancouver is the low snow-tolerance city on this site. A few centimetres, especially wet snow or a short shot of freezing rain, scores higher than the same snow in Barrie or Quebec City. The city is hilly, winter tires are not universal, and the Vancouver School Board is one district among several on the Lower Mainland. Its closure does not close Burnaby or Surrey.
The urban setting is right for much of the city and wrong for a long suburban run in another district. Search the city where the school is. South-coast places that are not in our city list still get the lower tolerance when they fall in the south-coast box described on the methodology page.
We do not have a board page for every authority here. Use the official links and your school's site.

Questions parents ask
How much snow closes Vancouver schools?
Nobody honest publishes a single centimetre line, and we will not invent one. The model simply weighs a given snowfall more heavily here than in a snow-belt city. The district still decides.
Does the Vancouver School Board cover the whole region?
No. It is the Vancouver district. Neighbouring districts make their own calls. The link is the VSB homepage, which identifies the board by name.
